We have such talent on EtsyFAME - it's a pleasure to feature another talented Etsian every week.
This week we are getting to know Traci Anderson of Tracisase Designs
What region do you live in?
Northwest
What kind of items do you create?
Clothing for Children, Juniors, Women, and occasional Men
How long have you been creating?
Oh my, I have been designing, patterning, and sewing clothing ever since I was a young girl. But I have been designing clothing and selling to friends, family, and individuals since 1996.
What are your creative influences?
I'm really not very creative, I just see something I like and copy and/or modify it some. I have always been the patternmaker who brought to life the designers wonderful ideas.
Do you work outside of the home/studio?
I also freelance as an apparel patternmaker for companies, and start-up to established designers who sell clothing lines to various stores nation wide. I also teach part-time as an adjutant instructor for a local community college teaching fashion courses.
If you could be in someone else's studio or kitchen, whose would that be?
I'm not really sure who's kitchen or studio I would like to be in, I guess I really content with my own. Wow that's odd, usually I never seem to be content, but if I was to think long enough I sure someone would come to mind.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What are your goals with your business?
In 5 years I see myself continuing my freelance patternmaking services and possible selling a small swimwear or clothing line to stores within the states. Plus continue with designing and selling items on my etsy site. My goal in the near future would be to take my patternmaking from the table method to the computer, where I can provide my clients with computerized patterns, graded sets, and markers for cutting.
Do you sell wholesale?
Yes, but only certain styles.
Where else can your products be found (name B&M stores or internet urls, including your own)?
My clothing line can be found at www.tracisase.etsy.com and my apparel patternmaking services can be viewed at www.apparelpatternmaking.com
Are you a member of any organizations or have any affiliations?
Right now I'm only a member of FAM "Fabulous Artistic Moms" on Etsy.com
What is your education as it pertains to your craft?
I have a Bachelors of Science in Fashion Design

Pick one product and describe it briefly and how long it takes to make a certain item in your store.
My girls and juniors swimwear outfits are made of nylon/lycra and are fitted to industrial standards. They are constructed, lined, and applied with rubber elastic so that they will fit just like a suit you would purchase from any moderate to up scale store on the market. They will not sag, bleed, or have the elastic dissolving after being exposed to chlorine water over and over. Creating these items starts by fitting a prototype on my fit model, pinning the suits where changes are needed to be made and then take those pinned changes back to my pattern pieces where I revise the pattern. This step is done over and over until the suit is to a stage I'm happy with. Once I'm happy with the fit the suit goes off to grading where I create more of the same pattern, but in smaller and larger sizes. Once that is done, I can lay pattern pieces out on my fashion fabric and sew suits up.
